I have over 20 years of experience in visual effects. After I graduated from Vancouver Film School, back in 2000, I went straight out to LA where I began work as a matte painting intern before being hired as a compositor. I went on to work on many studios features, including a number of Academy award winning and nominated films such as Chicago, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sideways, and others.
Later, I moved into working as a compositing supervisor and VFX supervisor. Currently I hire out to studios and films, and own my own company in Austin, Deacon Finn VFX where I work largely with indie films as a supervisor and consultant. Additionally, I've worked on televsion shows, animated programs, video games, emplainer videos, corporate projects, and more. In 2024 I put all these years of VFX knowledge into a comprehensive guide as co-author of the book "Visual Effects for Indie Filmmakers " which is available on Amazon or through our publisher, Routledge Publishing.
